Alpha kai Omega- Alpha And Omega Meaning

Alpha kai Omega is the Greek name of God meaning Alpha and Omega. "Alpha and Omega" are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet.

When Jesus calls Himself "Alpha and Omega",

He is declaring that He is the first and the last, the beginning and the ending. Jesus Christ is the beginning and Jesus Christ is the ending. He is the first and He is the last. That means that Jesus Christ is the eternal God.

Join me as we dig for the scripture treasure that is wrapped up in this last name of God that we end our epic 30 Day Bible study on, The 30 Powerful Names Of God.

We have come to Day 30 of our epic Bible study and daily devotional of only 30 of the names of God. These powerful names of God reveal His character to us and convey the truth of all that He is to us. As you study this name of God, Alpha, and Omega, remember the past 29 names of God that we have studied. If you need a reminder, check them out HERE for all the links to the previous posts.

This name of God only occurs three times in the Bible in the book of Revelation and these verses probably allude to passages in the book of Isaiah in which God identifies Himself as being both the beginning and the last.

“Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. Isaiah 44:6

“Listen to Me, O Jacob, And Israel, My called: I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last. Isaiah 48:12

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, theAlmighty.” Revelation 1:8

And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. Revelation 21:6

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Revelation 22:13

Because Jesus Christ is Alpha and Omega, He is the alphabet of God's revelation to us. If you want to understand God, you have to know Jesus.

Jesus Alpha and Omega

When Jesus says He is the Alpha and Omega, He is saying," I am sufficient for everything; nothing is missing; I am all that you need."

I'm sure you are familiar with Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. This is the most popular design in our store. You will find it on many products. The amazing thing about this design is that the background of the typography is of beautiful purple and pink flowers. I thought that I would be clever as a good designer and publish more products with this beautiful botanical design on it.

Guess what happened! Not one of them sold!

It is the powerful truth behind Philippians 4:13 that has caused those products to sell so well, not the beautiful purple and pink botanical design! God is sufficient for all your needs. You can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you because He is your Alpha and Omega.

You can see the whole collection HERE.

Because Jesus is Alpha and Omega, He is fully sufficient in everything; because we are in Him, we share His sufficiency.

When you surrender your life to God and welcome Him into every area of your life, you have everything that you will ever need for life and godliness- 2 Peter 1:3,

"as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue."

Jesus is the beginning and the end.

Do you realize what this means? When you trusted Jesus as your Savior, you were introduced to eternal sufficiency. Everything you need for victorious, abundant living, you can get from Jesus Christ!

Are you in the midst of difficult circumstances or do you need to make a difficult life-changing decision?

If you know Jesus as your Savior and you have surrendered your life to Him, you can lean into God's sufficiency. Whatever your need is today, Jesus is sufficient to meet that need.

Jesus is the first and the last

There is just one more lesson that I want to point out to you we learn from this beautiful name of God, Alpha, and Omega. Jesus Christ is victorious. Alpha and Omega means that whatever Jesus starts, He finishes.

He is victorious and successful in all that He does.

Why is that important for you to know?

It is important because if you have surrendered your life to Him, then you have given Jesus permission to finish the work He has started in you., Philippians 1:6

"being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;"

Whatever God starts in your life He will surely finish. God keeps His promises and you will find many of them in the Bible. If you would like a list of some of the promises that God give us in His word, read this post HERE
