Devotional Bible Study: The Secret Place Of God |Psalm 91:1.
Updated: Jun 25, 2021
Welcome to Day 16. for one of our short powerful devotions from the 31 Bible Verses About Practicing The Presence Of God. This short devotional is based on Psalm 91:1.
Read Psalm 91:1.
"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
It is thought that Moses is the author of Psalm 91. Moses wrote it during the 40 years of wandering through the wilderness. He experienced many dangers while leading over a million people through a hot desert without the protection of a large army or a permanent walled dwelling. He also saw many miracles!
God provided mana when they had no food and water from a rock when they were thirsty.
Don't forget that miracle of the crossing of the Red Sea. God saved them from the Egyptian army who was in hot pursuit of the Israelites!
Moses understood the secret power of Psalm 91. He knew of the numerous blessings that are found in the secret place of the Most High.
Join me below for a short devotional and we will answer the following questions:
Where is the secret place of the most high?
How do we dwell in the secret place of God?
Also, join me in prayer at the end of the post.
Short Devotional: The Secret Place Of God
There is a lot of fear in our world. We have suffered greatly from the recent pandemic.
But you have access to a secret place, where you will find peace in the middle of all the chaos and it is of most importance that we point everyone we meet to that secret place so that they can find refuge and shelter through their personal storms too. The secret place is to be found in God.
Where is the secret place of the Most High?
Have you found the secret place of God yet?
Did you know that everyone has access to this secret place?
There is a secret place in the presence of God, and it is a place that we can ABIDE in Christ.
All you need to gain access to this place of supernatural peace and protection is a portion of faith.
Once you believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins, in order to provide a way for you to come into God's holy presence, that is all you need. Just believe in Jesus and then you have direct access to the throne room of God anytime and all the time. We need to choose to make time and space to actively pursue the presence of God and enjoy the peace that we find there.
Psalm 91 lists a number of blessings that you have access to when you actively spend time hidden in the secret place of the most high god. You might enjoy reading this post specifically on Psalm 91 and other bible verses for when you are fearful.
How to dwell in the secret place of God
We are called to dwell in God or another word to use is, abide. To abide in Christ is to remain stable or fixed in a state. It takes faith to dwell in this secret place. We need to walk in faith through our day, no matter what comes across our path each day.
Here are some tips on making space in your life to dwell in God.
As soon as you wake, before your feet hit the floor, thank God for this new day and dedicate your day to Him. Ask God to walk with you through it. He already does walk right beside you but when you actively give Him access to it, it changes your perspective on it.
Pray continuously through your day. When you are working through those mundane chores, practice the presence of God just like Brother Lawerence . I love to pray when I am driving. When I pass a school, I pray for the teachers or if I pass a church, I ask God what do I need to pray for them. Sometimes when I am doing the grocery shopping, I feel prompted to pray for someone I see.
Play some worship music. That is such a sweet place to be, lost in worship!
Have you any tips to share on making space in your life to dwell in God's sweet presence?
You will find that your faith muscle grows stronger when you read Psalm 91 frequently. It is the perfect Psalm to use in prayer. It even speaks about protection from pestilence!
