Advent Scripture Reading Plan

Updated: Dec 6, 2020

Have you heard of the word 'Advent'?

Advent is a season observed in many Christian churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus and the return of Jesus at the Second Coming.

Advent is the time period from 1st of December until Christmas Day and we use this time to prepare our hearts for the real meaning of Christmas.

Do you ever feel prepared spiritually to celebrate Jesus on Christmas Day?

I find every year that I get caught up in the busyness of the Christmas season, selecting the perfect gift for a friend or family member, decorating our home with glittery decorations and lights, and finding the beautiful baubles for the Christmas tree.

Then there are all the school events and parties to attend!

This post has now been updated and all the daily devotionals that we had last year in our Facebook group have been compiled into an eBook with some fabulous prayer and gratitude journal pages and also a daily planner. It is perfect for reading on your phone or for printing out. You can read about it here: https://www.scripturalgrace.com/post/joy-an-advent-devotional-with-25-daily-devotions-prayer-and-gratitude-journal-and-daily-planner

You can print out the above picture to use as part of your home decor this Christmas.

This year I am going to be fully prepared to celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day and I'm hoping you will join me to on this Advent journey!

I have chosen 25 bible verses from the Old Testament and the New Testament, weaving our way through the prophecies that foretold the birth of the King Jesus, the Savior we need, all the way through His miraculous birth and then remembering the cross and the redemption He bought us.

These are the 25 scriptures we will be looking at during December. You will find this in a printable form in the Resource Library HERE. I realize the picture below only shows 21 verses but there are 25! There is a larger picture in the Resource Library. I have also designed two journal cards that you can print out and use for writing down any of the verses that really speak to you.

Have you seen our new Joy: An Advent Devotional, Prayer And Gratitude Journal, And Daily Planner?

I would love to invite you to join me every morning for short devotionals based on each of the above verses and leave in the comments any thoughts that you have. This will encourage us to grow in our faith. It is also a lovely place where we can pray for each other. You will find more information on the Restoring Beauty For Ashes Facebook Group HERE.

An invitation to join in daily devotionals on Advent.

To get the most out of this scripture plan, time permitting, set aside time daily- 5-15 mins to read the verses assigned to each day and prayerfully ask God to reveal more of Himself to you through the verses . Check into our Facebook group to read the daily devotional and feel free to leave any comments that you have about insights into these verses. Write out any verses that stand out to you on the journal cards in the library or in your own notebook. I'm so looking forward to sharing with you this month. Come check out this page about our Restoring Beauty For Ashes Facebook Group HERE and if you think you will enjoy it, come join us daily!

I pray you have a blessed Advent season!

xx Karen.
