Count Your Blessings

Updated: Jul 12

Count your blessings name them one by one - our new scripture reading / writing plan.

The design of this printable is influenced by the famous inspirational hymn by John Oatman, a Methodist Church minister in 1897. This hymn is a reminder to take our concerns and problems to God in prayer. It is a popular reminder of Ephesians 1:3:

" Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ."

You will find this design on clothing and other products in our shop.

The month of November is the month when everyone in the U.S.A. celebrate Thanksgiving and they take note of their many blessings. Canada celebrates this holiday in October. I'm living in Ireland and we don't celebrate Thanksgiving [ although we have adopted the ' Black Friday ' and ' Cyber Monday ' tradition! ]

I have decided to make November the month in my life to make a conscious decision to ' count my blessings and name them one by one '! It would be a great exercise to prepare my heart for Christ in Christmas coming in December. Would you like to join me in reading, writing and praying thirty Bible verses and ' counting your blessings '?

As I was preparing this months scripture writing plan, I realized that contentment and gratitude are not the same.

Gratitude is a measurement of our perspective on things, while contentment is a measure on the things we don't yet have.

The good news is that contentment is possible when we depend on Jesus!

God has promised to go with you wherever you go - He will never leave or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6.

And another promise that I love is found in Psalm 46:5

" God is within her, she will not fall."

We also read in Matthew 6:33 that if we fix our eyes on Jesus and seek Him, then all the other things for life that we need will be added. God supernaturally takes care of all that concerns you when you put Him first.

How do you fix your eyes on Jesus and seek Him first ?

By spending time with Him and sharing your day with Jesus, seeking His perspective. It helps to start your day by spending even five minutes of your time reading scripture, We all have busy lives, so to encourage you in this endeavor, I have prepared this scripture reading / writing plan and a Facebook group that I publish a short devotional daily on one of the verses from the plan. It would be lovely to have you join in too and add any thoughts you have in the comments on the post. You can read more about our Facebook Group HERE.

So for this month of November, I am inviting you to join me in the reading, writing and prayerfully considering what God is saying to you about counting your blessings.

I have selected Bible verses that fall into three areas that I think need to be considered to truly count your blessings.

  1. Being content.

  2. Praise

  3. Thanksgiving.

You will find a PDF in the Resource Library HERE containing the list of Bible verses to download or print, with two different posters, journal cards and two different styles of postcard, to send to friends or family over Thanksgiving!Print the posters to use as part of your home decor and use the journal cards to write out a verse that you want to remember and place in your Bible or place around your home.

Thank you for joining me this month counting your blessings! Check out our Facebook Group and lets talk again soon!

xx Karen.
