Welcome to Day 8. of our devotional study, Who Is The Holy Spirit And What Does He Do online Bible study. Today's Bible study is about the Holy Spirit of Truth.
The Holy Spirit, often referred to as the Spirit of Truth, plays a crucial role in the life of a believer. The Spirit not only guides us into all truth but also dwells within us, offering comfort, wisdom, and understanding. In this devotional Bible study, we will explore the significance of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth, using the following Bible verses, John 14:16-20 and 1 John 4:6.
The Holy Spirit Of Truth
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.
What does that mean?
It means that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity is genuine, trustworthy, faithful, and full of integrity.
Do you find that people aren't full of integrity at this time?
Do you ever worry that when you listen to ministers preach or read Bible studies from any author you might not be learning the true things of God?
You don't have to worry about being misled when you seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit of Truth. As believers we have a precious gift - the Holy Spirit who helps us to discern truth from falsehood, ensuring that our understanding aligns with God's character and scripture.
Read John 14:16-20:
Click on the verse to read it in various Bible translations.
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you." John 14:16-20 ESV.
Jesus introduces the Holy Spirit as the "Spirit of truth" in John 14:17. Jesus was preparing His disciples for His departure, and He promised them the Holy Spirit to ensure they were not left as orphans in a confusing world.
This promise extends to us, offering divine guidance and insight.
Holy Spirit reveals truth
The Holy Spirit will never lead you to error. In our daily lives, we encounter numerous voices, each clamoring for attention and asserting its version of truth.
As believers, we are not left to navigate these waters alone. Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, who guides us into all truth, helping us discern the true from the false, the holy from the deceitful.
By relying on His guidance, we grow in confidence and faith, knowing we are never alone and always led by God's truth.
Read 1 John 4:6
"We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error." 1 John 4:6 ESV
1 John 4:6 teaches us to distinguish between the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of falsehood. Those of us who know God listen to Him speaking through His word, the Bible.
Be constantly in the presence of the Holy Spirit
To fully benefit from the Holy Spirit of Truth, we need to be constantly in His presence. We must acknowledge and rely on His support and guidance. This requires a heart that is open and willing to seek His help.
Being aware of the Holy Spirit's indwelling presence helps us to stay connected to God's truth and then we will discern deception. We can cultivate this awareness through regular prayer and reading God's word.
When faced with new teachings or ideas, pray and seek confirmation from the Holy Spirit. Compare these teachings with scripture to ensure they align with God's word.
Conclusion:
The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, is our divine guide and teacher. He reveals God's truth to us from a world filled with confusion and deception. By embracing His indwelling presence, trusting His guidance, and discerning the spirits, we can navigate our lives according to God's truth.

Grant us the wisdom to discern truth from falsehood and to follow Your guidance faithfully. Prompt us to continually seek the Holy Spirit's revelation, knowing He will lead us into all truth. Amen.
